Vertigo

A square of dark and warm woods locked into a single rotating motion. The pattern pulls the eye toward the center and never quite lets it land. End-grain construction, with the inlay precision-cut on CNC and hand-fitted into the base. African blackwood for the dark, sapele for the warm. Finished with food-safe oil and beeswax. Already in a private kitchen.

US$ 700

The Ananas

A pineapple in pale maple, rising out of dark walnut like it's lit from underneath. For three centuries the pineapple has meant one thing on a door or a table: come in, sit, eat. That is the whole job of this board. End-grain walnut, the inlay cut on CNC and hand-fitted leaf by leaf into the base. Maple for the crown, walnut for the ground. Finished food-safe, built to outlast the kitchen it lands in.

US$ 500

The Manta

One ray caught mid-glide, drawn in the linework of Polynesian tattoo. Hold the board still and it still reads as moving, the wingtip leading your eye off the edge of the wood. The pattern is sapele, warm and red against the cooler dark of the walnut beneath it. End-grain construction, inlay precision-cut on CNC and hand-fitted into the base. Finished food-safe. In the Pacific the manta is the guardian of safe passage. A fitting thing to keep over a kitchen.

US$ 600

The Honu

The Hawaiian sea turtle, the one islanders read as long life and the way home. Its shell is carved in pale maple, every plate filled with tribal geometry, set into a base of warm red redwood. Old symbol, old wood, both meant to age slowly. End-grain construction, inlay cut on CNC and hand-fitted plate by plate. Finished food-safe. A slow animal on a board built to outlive the hurry around it.
